This is my favorite travel essay, which is saying a lot. When writing or reading travel stories, people tend to think the author needs to travel to far and exotic locations. This proves the exception.
Keillor, better known for his Prairie Home Companion radio show on National Public Radio (NPR), makes some very deep observations about state fairs, a setting with which many of us in the Midwest are familiar.
